4th of July!

4th of July is my most favorite holiday of the year. I love the warm summer weather, the patriotism and all the fun events. For as long as I can remember, I have been going to the Provo Freedom Festival Parade and Stadium of Fire. Although we haven't been able to go the Stadium of fire the past few years, we have kept up the tradition of the parade. Both the boys were so good during the parade. Jace had a tough time with the 15 fire engines at the beginning, but after that he slept through the rest of the parade. Wyatt was enthralled at all the floats and played musical chairs the entire parade between us all.

My niece Kassidy won 3rd place in the Baby Contest so Adam, Cris, Isaac and Kassidy got to walk in the Parade. (Adam missed the picture, he was piling up candy on Koby's lap for him and Wyatt.)
Josh and Wyatt. (Just a plug for a good brother and a good uncle. Both Isaac and Wyatt absolutely love Josh! They will beg him to play with them and they just love being around him. He is such a good sport and lets them pull him around! I am so glad he is my bro-love ya!)

After the parade and a BBQ at the Jeffs', Koby and I and the boys headed down to Delta for the Derby. This was the 1st year I have ever been to the derby and Koby's first time in 6 since we got married. It is so crowded and they never sell out the seats, so there are people standing everywhere and it is so crowded, but it was a lot of fun. Wyatt had a tough time understanding why the cars were crashing into each other, but after a while he would say "come on crash!" It was really cute. Grandma Hollie and Aunt Tara were there and they took care of Jace, so I actually got to sit back and relax and enjoy the Derby. Thanks guys!

Not the best picture, but Koby's cousin won 1st place in the mini car figure eight. In the first lap he rolled the car, but after they turned it back over he cruised and won 1st place by a full lap. In the picture he is getting his trophy and $500.

After the Derby they had fireworks. This was Wyatt's first time seeing fireworks and he loved them. He sat like this the entire 20 minutes and kept saying "that was a big one" over and over again. Jace even sat in my lap and just stared. I thought they would be scared, but not a single cry from either of them.
It was an awesome day. We were pretty tired when we finally got home at 1am and got everyone in bed, but well worth it!

A Very Long Post.....

Well it has been a while since I posted last so here are some brief updates to what we have been doing this summer.
In May, the Robert's and us decided to do a little "pre-memorial day" camping trip to see how the kids would do and to get out and enjoy the summer. We headed up to Rockport State Park and camped in one of the many campgrounds. It was beautiful weather and we got to enjoy the outdoors just relaxing around the fire and talking. For those of you who think that tenting it with a 2 year old and a 2 month old looks hard, guess what???? It is Hard!!! Jace would wake up to eat and that would wake Wyatt up and then we played musical sleeping bags for 2 hours and then everyone would fall asleep for 2 hours and we would start all over again. But with that said, we had a really good time and Wyatt loved being able to get out.

Wyatt kept telling Koby to catch Nemo. I don't think he quite understands the purpose of fishing yet.....

The Dutson's in the morning. We made it through the night!!
The Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, Thomas the train was up in Heber City, and Wyatt is obsessed with Thomas so we got Koby and him a ticket to ride the train. It was a fun little outing and they had games to play, and toys as well as all the other railroad stuff around. Wyatt had a blast and it was fun to hang out as a family.

Jace slept the entire time, except to eat.

Over Memorial Day weekend every year, we hold the annual Dutson Family camp out. This year we went up oak city canyon and camped up South Walker. It was a great campsite that Tara and Casey found. After our last tenting experience, Koby and I decided that for this weekend we needed a trailer. Luckily his grandparents had one we could borrow and it was a good thing, since it was freezing cold most of the time and it rained most of the time. We had a good time playing games, visiting, hiking, riding the 4 wheelers, and eating delicious food.

It was pretty cold, even in the trailer, so we had Jace pretty wrapped up. In this picture he has on a onesie, sweatpants, socks, a blanket sleeper, a beenie, and 4 blankets.

We finally had some sun on Sunday morning, so Koby and I took the boys hiking up Full Creek Peak. We rode the 4 wheeler as far as we could go and then we hiked up the rest. It is a really intense hike and add a baby on top of that and it is a really good work out. You clime up about 3000 feet in 2.5 miles. It is uphill the entire way. But it is worth it. It has the most beautiful view.

Kim and the Boys at the tops.
When we got to the top of the peak we had a nice sack lunch and started heading back down. unfortunately it started raining and on slick rocks I am not the best hiker, so we strapped both boys on Koby, one on front and one on back and he carried them the last half of the hike. I wish I would have got a picture of it, but it was raining and lightning and when you are on a top of a mountain you really just want to get down fast.
After our camp out we headed in to Oak City to say hi to Koby's grandparents. We wanted to get a picture of all us together.
Calvin and Vernell.
Now onto other things that have happened...
Jace is 4 Months Old!!!!
Here are a couple facts about our little Blondie:
Weight: 14 lbs 8 oz
Height: 25.75 inches
(Jace is 2 lbs smaller than Wyatt was at this age, but he is the same height. It is crazy how much 2 lbs can make a difference)

So Cute!!!

What we do every morning, watch a movie and mommy and daddys bed.(of course this is a request)

Jace's first time eating rice cereal.

Jace did really good with the rice cereal, but something really out of the ordinary happened....he quit sleeping through the night. On days he would eat cereal he would get up at midnight and 5 am to eat again, so his pediatrician said to hold off for and while. And I am glad we did, because as of June 30, 2009 my little Blondie is sleeping from 6 pm to 6 am. AAAHHHH what 7 hours of un-interrupted sleep can do for a mother!!

Wyatt and Isaac splashed Grandma with so much water that she just gave up and jumped right in with the boys. They were having a blast splashing her and each other with water. Good buy by Grandma on the crocodile pool!

Just more cute pictures that I had to throw in of my cute boys....
Wyatt
I couldn't believe this, I turned around for 5 mintes and Jace had fallen asleep in his play mat. What is surprising is this kid will not sleep unless he is swaddled up tighter than a burrito. This is the one and only time this has ever happened.

Well that is a pretty good update on us. A few other things that we have celebrated was my 26th birthday, Father's day (we got Koby a Hunting bow), and my niece Kassidy being sealed to her parents in the Draper temple. What a beautiful day that was!!
Hopefully it doesn't take me as long next time to post again and for all of those who read this entire long post, thanks!!

Jace's 3 Month Photos!

Wow does time fly by. I cannot believe that my little baby is already 3 months old. Jace is such a sweet baby, and I can already tell from his personality that he is going to be such a sensitive child. He makes the saddest little face when something bugs him, but it is so cute. He is such a little angel and has really made our family feel complete. Enjoy the photos! They are adorable!

Stewart Falls

So far this summer we are doing pretty well on our Saturday Hiking trips. A couple of weekends ago we hiked up to Stewart Falls with Jake and Marta Fuller. It is the perfect hike to do when you only have a couple of hours. Wyatt loves riding in the pack and he also loves having Jake around, so needless to say it was a piece of cake with him. Jace typically sleeps while we are hiking or he looks around at the scenery. He is pretty mellow and just enjoys the movement.

Fun in the Sun!

During the winter, my sister and I walk over at the rec center, but in the summer we do a 3 1/2 mile walk by her house. It is a tough walk, with lots of hills, but is more fun for the kids and us. After our walk we always stop by the park to let the kids play. This last year Deana and her son Rowan has joined us.

Jace loves riding in the stroller, but loves getting out too. Here he is just smiling away!

All the Moms and kids. We take up the whole path with our BIG strollers.

Mother's Day!

I think it is great that we have a holiday to celebrate Mother's and Father's! I know we should appreciate them all the time, but sometimes we get busy and forget. I just want to tell my mom how amazing she is. Everything good I have in me, I have learned from her(and my Dad, but we will talk about him in June). She is an amazing example and friend. She is an awesome Grandmother to my two boys and she would do anything for them. Thanks for being such a good mom, Grandmother and friend! We love you!!
Love, Koby, Kim, Wyatt and Jace
For Mother's day this year, Koby and the boys got me a gift card to Carabba's. My favorite thing to do is go out to dinner, so this was the perfect gift. After church and naps, we went up to my sister's house and had dinner and spent time together as a family. It was the perfect day. I love being a mom and I feel so lucky to have the cutest and sweetest boys in the world!!!
(I know I am biased)

Dutson's 1st Summer Day Trip!

Over the Mother's Day weekend. Koby and I took the boys down to Oak City/Delta to get outside and have some fun!
We started the day off with a 4-wheeler ride. There was a lot of runoff coming down Dry Creek and Wyatt was loving that we were driving through it and that he could throw rocks into it.
Koby and I took turns with each of the boys. Jace was in a pack on our front and we put blankets around his head to support it. He slept through the whole ride.

After the 4-wheel ride we went into Koby's parents house, where there is a basketball court, and Wyatt had a lot of fun lining up all of the basketballs and playing with Grandpa Stu and Koby.

After dinner we went shooting. We took 2 different kinds of pistols and tried them out.

Koby and Stewart hit the target every time, me on the other hand.... hit it maybe 4 times out of 20 rounds.
After shooting we had more basketball, of course!!
It was such a fun day, and a good way to start off our summer!!
